My mosaic toad is on a spring move! ‘Reflective Toad’ will be hopping across the city to the Museum Quarter where he will sit pond-side in the garden outside the Streetlife Museum and Hull & East Riding Museum.
‘Reflective toad’ was commissioned by ARC – the Architecture Research Centre in Hull as part of the Larkin25 festival (www.larkin25.co.uk) celebrating the poet’s poem ‘Toads’ in 2010.
That looks really scary – next to the various hares, this has to be my favourite of all your pieces, so I hope he enjoys his new home.
Thanks Martin. I can’t believe it’s 3 years since I made him.
I love your toad Sue, did you sculpt him yourself? and if so, what from? Thanks
Hi Julee, The toad base was supplied (along with 40 other blank toads to commissioned artists). It was made in Poland from fibreglass.
Thanks Sue, did you use silicone as the adhesive? What a great commission.
Yes, it worked a treat. I felt very lucky to have been asked. Good luck with your chair project it looks great.
My husband and I adore your mosaic toad and miss him not being outside ARC where we would pass him regularly. So glad to know he is still around Hull and will definately take a walk to see him outside the Streetlife museum. Do you know whether he’ll be staying at the Streetlife museum?
Many thanks for your lovely comments Helen. Yes, Mr Toad will be staying outside the Streetlife Museum, pond-side in the garden area. I’m sure he’ll be glad to see you. Thanks again for your support.
